14.02.2008

TALLINN, Feb 14, BNS - German Chancellor Angela Merkel and former US President Bill Clinton are among the potential guests of honor to attend a conference of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Tallinn in late June, the daily Postimees reported.

"The WHO has invited Merkel and Clinton to the Tallinn conference. The corresponding negotiations are still under way," Eli Lilles, spokesperson for the Estonian Ministry of Social Affairs, told the newspaper.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Lauri Matsulevits said the final list of guests was still being agreed.

The WHO European regional conference to be held on June 25-27 under the title "Health Systems, Health and Wealth" is organized by the Estonian Ministry of Social Affairs. More than 500 participants are expected, including health and finance ministers from 53 countries.

This would be the second time for Bill Clinton to visit Estonia. He was here for the first time in the early summer of 2002.

His wife, Hillary Clinton, visited Tallinn in the summer of 1997, Postimees said.
