TALLINN, Feb 11, BNS - Negotiations were scheduled to take place in the Estonian capital today on Estonia's accession to the US visa waiver program.
The head of the Estonian delegation, Foreign Ministry vice secretary general Aino Leppik von Wiren, and the top negotiator for the United States, assistant secretary of the US Homeland Security Department Richard C. Barth, are scheduled to give a joint press conference in the afternoon.
Barth said after talks with Czech government ministers last week that they had made "excellent progress on negotiations that hopefully will lead this year, 2008, to the Czech people being able to travel to the US without a visa."
He also said there was "high probability" Greece and Estonia would also join the US visa waiver program this year.
