A Christmas Concert, December 14, 2006
08.12.2006
featured singers from the National Opera Theater of Estonia
Juuli Lill Köster and Andres Köster
who was accompanied by pianist Kristjan Randalu (USA)
at the Concert Hall of the Corcoran Gallery of Art
Thursday, December 14th, 2006 six o’ clock p.m.
These young and talented singers started their careers at a very young age (Andres 1995 and Juuli Lill 1997). They have preformed in various musical events in the Nordic and Baltic states as well as Russia. During the last few years, they have had solo roles at The National Opera Theater “Estonia”.
The opera duo presented an extensive repertoire; the first part of the concert included sacred vocal works—Italian late Renaissance and Baroque solo cantatas and arias from Bach’s and Handel’s oratorios traditionally performed during Advent. The second part of the concert consisted solo arias from French and Italian classical operas and well-known Christmas carols.
The diversity of this duo proves to be of interest to many tastes; not only are they highly successful as solo vocalists, but Mrs. Juuli L. Köster and Mr. Andres Köster really ‘get into character’ through a wide range of music from sacred classical oratorios through solo and duo arias from classical operas such as Carmen and Don José from the opera Carmen.
We hope this performance was the memorable highlight of your Holiday Season.
