Estonian Duo Bonzo & Tõun - March, 2nd Concert in Annapolis

02.03.2010

SINGERS and INSTRUMENTALISTS FROM ESTONIA

CELEBRATING with SISTER STATE  ESTONIAN INDEPENDENCE DAY

BONZO and TÕUN, famous ESTONIAN singers and instrumentalists, will perform on Tuesday, March 2 at the Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts at 7 PM in World Artists Experiences Ambassador Series. The duo became well-known in Estonia at the turn of the century when they composed and performed folk songs in Estonian language. As well as singing and composing, they are masters of numerous instruments, i.e.  various types of guitars, harmonica, melodica, ukulele, mbira, percussion, harmonizer, and looper. Bonzo (Andrus Albrecht) and Toun (Tõun Timm) describe their musical synergy as raw and rare.  The group sings in the style of Tom Waits, as well as being master imitators of Neil Young, Bob Dylan, David Bowie, Cat Stevens and others. As well as some imitations, they will sing Estonian Folk Songs, Russian Romances, and old funny Italian Folksongs.

The duo has strong ties to the Maryland National Guard and this year, has a Sister State relationship with the State of Maryland.  World Artists Experiences, a non-profit organization bridging international understanding through cultural and citizen diplomacy, with the Embassy of Estonia is presenting Bonzo and Tõun. The concert is free of charge and seating is on a first come first serve basis.
